Isaiah 40: 28-31

Have you not known? Have you not heard? The everlasting God, the LORD, The Creator of the ends of the earth, Neither faints nor is weary. His understanding is unsearchable.

He gives power to the weak, And to those who have no might He increases strength.

Even the youths shall faint and be weary, And the young men shall utterly fall,

But those who wait on the LORD Shall renew their strength; They shall mount up with wings like eagles, They shall run and not be weary, They shall walk and not faint.

I will meditate in thy precepts - C.H. Spurgeon

“I will meditate in thy precepts.”
—Psalm 119:15

There are times when solitude is better than society, and silence is wiser than speech. We should be better Christians if we were more alone, waiting upon God, and gathering through meditation on his Word spiritual strength for labor in His service. We ought to muse upon the things of God, because we thus get the real nutriment out of them.

Truth is something like the cluster of the vine: if we would have wine from it, we must bruise it; we must press and squeeze it many times. The bruiser’s feet must come down joyfully upon the bunches, or else the juice will not flow; and they must well tread the grapes, or else much of the precious liquid will be wasted. So we must, by meditation, tread the clusters of truth, if we would get the wine of consolation therefrom. Our bodies are not supported by merely taking food into the mouth, but the process which really supplies the muscle, and the nerve, and the sinew, and the bone, is the process of digestion. It is by digestion that the outward food becomes assimilated with the inner life.

Our souls are not nourished merely by listening awhile to this, and then to that, and then to the other part of divine truth. Hearing, reading, marking, and learning, all require inwardly digesting to complete their usefulness, and the inward digesting of the truth lies for the most part in meditating upon it. Why is it that some Christians, although they hear many sermons, make but slow advances in the divine life? Because they neglect their closets, and do not thoughtfully meditate on God’s Word. They love the wheat, but they do not grind it; they would have the corn, but they will not go forth into the fields to gather it; the fruit hangs upon the tree, but they will not pluck it; the water flows at their feet, but they will not stoop to drink it. From such folly deliver us, O Lord, and be this our resolve this morning, “I will meditate in thy precepts.”

COVID-19 Crisis Prayer - Pastor Mike

Today's Prayer

Psalm 67

Today’s Subject: Our Governing Authorities

God’s Way: That we are subject to the governing authorities for there is no authority except from God, and the authorities that exist are appointed by God (Romans 13:1).  Pray for our president and national authorities that they would do was is right and good for our nation.  Pray they would navigate this financial crisis with grace and wisdom to the restoration of our economy.  Pray that unbiblical agendas would not be advanced in this time of crisis as additions to financial aid packages.  Pray that God would surround our governing authorities with godly counsel and that they would heed said counsel.  Pray that God would give our local governors wisdom from on high.  That they would choose for what is pure and peaceable, gentle, willing to yield, full of mercy and good fruits, without partiality and without hypocrisy.  Pray for our local leaders that they would make proper, Biblical decisions for our community based on our community.

God’s Salvation:  Pray for the salvation of all our governing authorities who have not professed Jesus to be their Lord and Savior.  Pray they would be humble and willing to hear and receive the Gospel.  Pray that our president is born again from above by the Holy Spirit.  Pray our governor would surrender his life to Jesus.  Pray that our governing authorities would recognize the position given to them by God and by His appointment and would, in turn, honor God with their lives and their leading.  Pray that the salvation of our governing authorities would be spark to ignite revival in our country, our state, and our cities.  Pray the Lord would continue to be longsuffering, extending His grace and salvation to those who have not yet believed.

God’s Praise:  Praise God for His mercy and grace.  Praise the Lord that The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.  Praise the Lord that He rules and reigns above all and there is none above Him.  That His will shall be done.  That He is God and there is none other.  Praise Him for His wisdom in appointing the authorities that we have, that we might trust Him in His goodness and sovereign plans.  Praise the Lord that nothing can be done or will be done outside of His power, might and strength.  That He sets up kings and puts them down.  That He turns the heart of the kings as He turns a river.

“God be merciful to us and bless us, and cause His face to shine upon us, that Your Way may be known on earth, Your Salvation among the nations.  Let the peoples praise You, O God; Let all the peoples praise You” Psalm 67: 1-3
